Antagonists, Protagonists, and McGuffins. Oh My!

Now is the perfect time to tell the story that only you can tell. ๐Ÿ“–

And you don’t have to do it by yourself.

Over the course of seven weeks, you and your fellow writing club members will unearth your stories, get to know your characters and settings, and use structure to tell your stories in the most powerful way possible.

All while fueled by hot chocolate. โ˜•๏ธ

And along the way, we’ll be asking each other one important question about our writing “What’s your favorite part?” Focusing on your strengths will make your stories shine!

You’ll end up with a short story you’ll be proud to share with your new writing community, your friends and family, and the world.

Note: Much of our curriculum has been adapted (with Lani’s blessing) from โ€œThe Year of Writing Magicallyโ€ workshop, a ten month writing course developed by story expert and best-selling author Lani Diane Rich, author of โ€œHow Story Works.โ€

More About the WYFP Writing Club

  • Mel will be writing a short story along with everyone!
  • Activities for each meeting will be posted in a password protected blog post, which will be accessible to you and your families.
  • You’ll develop confidence as writers. Each meeting will begin by talking about an inspirational writing quote from a famous author and end with a cheer about your many talents.
  • We’ll have some special guests.
  • We’ll take breaks and play games.
  • Critiques will focus on โ€œfavorite partsโ€ and going with what works, rather than criticism.
  • By the end of January, everyone’s stories will be posted in a downloadable anthology that will be accessible on our group blog.
  • You’ll become part of a magical writing community that you’ll still be part of even after January (we’ll have reunions).
  • During the last thirty minutes of our last session, weโ€™ll have a celebration of your success as a writer! You’ll read your favorite part of your story out loud (if you choose to) and have a special ceremony. Guests welcome!
